You Are 26 Years Old

26

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

Only 9 years out...

My turn for the end of the year quiz thing. )

Mandatory Unhinged Post

Unhinged is genius. Not ever having the chance to see Unglued, this was my first time to ever play a real 'joke set'. Some musings:
Question Elemental? - Awesome and Hilarious (Did you know i'm going to smack you in the face with this card?)
Vile Bile (Whenever a player touches this card, they loose 2 life) - Some of techniques used to move this were genius: Gloves, Chewing Gum, even other cards.
Loose Lips (Whenever enchanted creature does damage, the opponent has to say a 8 word of fewer sentance or you draw 2 cards) - Llanelli Swamp Cachau Bant Island Shit Cock Fuck

Psi-Soft is an awesome shop. Other than having a massive stock of items and decent prices, they house a LAN area, nice basement for tournamenents and some friendly players. The prizes were pretty shit, but anyone who goes to a Unginged pre-release just to win packs has missed the whole point of the set.
With the aid of Psi-Soft and some not-too-clever locals, i managed to complete my MBC deck (minus death cloud). All it needs now is some victims :}.

Thanks to Mike (+ parents) for letting us stay the night.

I need new shoes!
My current ones are completely knackered and have succesfully mangled my skin. Time to dip into paypal for a pair of spangly new Vans.

Berserk
A very cool anime. The first few episodes took a bit of adjusting too and it seemed to be moving rather slow, but it's starting to pick up now (episode 5). It's not reached the "OMFG I MUST WATCH NEXT EPISODE NOW NOW NOW" stage yet.

Rectangular pieces of card...
I'm going to make a proper start at building Type 2 MB/MBC. It's inevitably going to involve £80 for 3 more Chrome Mox and 4 Cranial Extractions :{.
I reactivated my Brainburst premium account too, but i must say the quality of articles has really dropped. 80% are about 'fun' decks with little testing, the remaining 20% are.. erm... Kai Budde ^_^.
In other news, Mike (<3) lent me his Yahoo Account with YuGiOh Judge Forum access, needless to say i'll be spending a large chunk of my spare time sifting through it to consolidate mah yugiaaahhh knowledge ;D.

My enthusiasm for guitar has been rekindled in the last few days. I haven't played as much as i should have in the last month, but i've spent about 10 hours over 3 days getting reaquainted (pre-emptive *WINX*).

Managed to snag tickets to see Green Day in February \o/. Thanx to a friend I saw on thursday I got tickets (£25 - VERY good price considering its sold out) and a lift over with some mates :D.

The college has decided to COMPLETELY fuck up my timetable. Due their delightful budget deficit they've had to lay off a shit load of professors and promote the ones that remain, one of which was a Physics teacher of mine. Since the start of this (academic) year i've had a terrible timetable - 3 hour gaps between lessons and such. The only upside was tiny classes (7-14 pupils) and the fact that I live so near to campus that i can go home during the gaps.
The proposed timetable will put me in classes of TWENTY with an extra hour a week. If anyone is finishing their GCSEs this year and wants to go into further education, go to sixth form not college. Trust me - the teachers are better and you don't get fucked around (as much).

I've been playing a lot of Stepmania this week, partly through boredom and party because Max 300 is quite fun. Speaking of Max, I think I may be able to pass it on arcade with 1 or 2 weeks practice. I gave it a go this week and figure I can get to the freeze without much stamina loss, it's a shame the steps rarely actually follow the song >_<.

MTG draft went well, I finished off 2nd in a 10 player pod - not bad considering it's the second time i've drafted in the last 12 months.
I may stick to my 'alternate between yugi and MTG' thing, it's pretty cool because it means i'll get some Thursday free. This will allow me to go to the weekly live bands night in a local pub. Despite the fact that the bands are usually pretty shit (hello Blink 182 tribute band) i know about 90% of the people who attend so it's always good fun. And occasionally a good band turns up.

Past few days have mostly involved hanging around Neath and trying to ebay sutff. Some American prick who's registered under a UK account has decided to under-cut all my auctions, so their not doing very well at the moment. Anyone know if pretending to be a seller in a country you don't ship from or live in is allowed?

When i'm not feeling so tired i'll post up the 'best mantis tournament EVER' story, featuring the likes of Richard Garfield, Patrick Moore and fddfdf zdffd.

This album isn't bad (an improvement on Warning at any rate)...

Ebay money is slowly trickling in, if everything goes (sells?) as planned i should be able to pay everything I owe off and have a nice sum left over for myself.

Sundays event went supar well, I was a bit apprehensive about being a Head Judge but I had a lot of help (<3 Ioan + Col) and I learnt a shit load. There's been a lot of feedback on various forums about the site, and all of it has been good! It's really nice to see yourself being complimented by people you barely know.

I'm looking forward to doing more big events like this, especially Head Judging now that i have experience with it :D.

The last 2 or 3 days have mainly involved me ebaying product. Paypal is a blessing and a curse all at once. It's cool because it lets you get your money instantly instead of having £60.00 come to you in the not-so-reliable mail.
But with so much fanboy material on ebay (see: akkkuuuuuuuuu plushie), it's really hard to resist the temptation of emptying my account. I really need to withdraw it all into my bank account.
Money in bank account = real money.
Paypal money = FAKE MONOPOLY MONEY TO SPEND ON ANYTHING.

Urgh, backlog for fun.

Saturday
Waking up at 9:30 sucks. I had to go to work to sort a thousand-odd files for destruction. I basically spent 3 hours in the coldest building EVAR, checking each file to see how old it is and bagging up ones that can be destroyed. This gets pretty boring after about... 3 files, the only thing preventing me from going insane were the random funny names like 'Hoare, Sylvia'.

After finally finishing at 1:00 I went over to Swansea which, considering the EXCESSIVE amounts of rain that had poured for 8 hours previously, was much easier said than done. We took at least 2 detours due to half-a foot-deep flooding and almost stalled in particularly waterlogged pool. I managed to get to The Cricketers 2 hours too late to actually enter in the City Champs, which i wasnt really expecting to be able to do anyway seeing as i'd have had to borrow a deck and haven't played any MTG in 10 months.

All was not lost, though. With nothing much else to do (aside from watching Rogue do hilarious Touth and Nail stuff), I looked around at Kamigawa and the new decks. Kamigawa is an AWESOME set. Magic looks a million times better than it did when I left it (just before Fifth Dawn), and i can see my self spending exorbitant amounts on it in the comming months.

After a little bit of Dawn of War with Owen at Xfire we (Mike, Tyma and myself) headed over to Rhydaman, abandoning any hope of getting back to Neath through the floods.

We played a crap load of MTG and San Andreas ('Documentary on Black People'), and watched TEAM AMERICA. This is honestly the funniest film I've seen in at least 6 months. It kept me loling throught, despite being incredibly tired.

Sunday
We went over to the Cardiff City Champs. I came somewhere about 10th, not bad considering I was playing the STUPID DECK (RIP). Funnily, the 10th place prizes have equal value to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place prize.
10th Place - 3 TP5 (~ £15.00)
2nd Place - 1 2004 Tin (~15.00)

After grabbing poker chips we went back to Rhydaman. I learnt the joys of poker, and played 3 games (lasting until 4:00 AM). I finished on a not-so healthy 0-3 games, no Pro Tour for me :{.

I've probably left a shit load out, but it was 2+ day ago, and i've spent the last 3 hours reformatting a PC, so forgive me ^_^.

College
I've handed my university personal statement in for my tutor to write my UCAS referance, so all that remains is for me to actually submit my UCAS form. The only part of the form I need to finish is to choose what universities I want to apply for. Problem is, I'm still not 100% sure I want to Computing/Computer Science, let alone pick 6 Universities to go to. Heck, I don't even know if I want to go to University yet.
I've set my self the deadline of next Monday to decide, which gives me most of the weekend to sort things out.

GenCon
6 days of complete fun!
There were a few... problems over the event, but I enjoyed myself and I hope everyone else did to. Even the work itself was entertaining, which I wasnt expecting at all.
I don't have the motivation to write an indepth update on the whole event, so i'll sum it up:
DDR + 4 Free Drafts + Meeting cool new people + Spending time with great friends = ownage!
Looking forward to next year ;)

Fix up look sharp, don't make me paint a bollock!
10:30pm 11/10/2004
Wow, posting often is hard. I have motivation, really I do!

College has been... frantic. I'll be missing 3 days this week for GenCon so I've been spending a lot of time catching up on work I haven't even missed yet. University applications are preferablly in by the end of next week, so finalising that has been demanding too. I'm still not completely sure on what unis to choose, my current but very very rough list is:
Leeds
Manchester
Cardiff
Bristol
Swansea
Warwick (no chance, but meh)
If anyone wants to big-up their university to me, feel free to post a comment.

Last weekend was great fun. Watched Wales v England at friends house, then headed out to Swansea to meet Tyma, Chris, and collected more DDR-people-gets (Neo). First on our agenda for the evening was massacring Naoki songs with our weapons of choice:
A guitar
7-keys-and-a-turntable
Our voices
"Why would you do such a thing?!" I hear you cry, and too be honest, I'm not completely sure myself. But i'm assured all will be revealed at some point during my lifespan.

Next item was ON THE MIC!
On the Mic is truely the greatest innovation in singing games. If you were to lock Missy Elliot, Singstar and a Auto-Cue on 8x speed in a room and forced them to procreate, after about 10 generations of in-breading the result would be On The Mic.
Featuring such well known hits as 'The Humpty Hump' and 'Fix-up look sharp', On The Mic is fun for ALL the family.

On Sunday we visited Barry Island, for Disneys Rave and Para. Of course, Disneys Rave and Para have gone to the forbidden basement for a party with IIDX and Prex 3. The trip could have been a disastar had not Dreams Come True appeared and saved the day! After literally one go on Dreams Come True we dragged Neo to every arcade in Barry Island and the DEATH PUB. Souvenirs include:
High-tide <3 token
Official Barry Island Merchandise - Coffe Mug
Official Barry Island Merchandise - Cancer Sweets
Official Barry Island Merchandise - Slinky
A painful stitch - *curse you death pub*

Packing for Gen Con now commences.

music: Stolen FF9 music
Final Fantasy XI
I'd been putting off playing this because of bad reviews from some old AC (Asheron's Call) friends, but grabbed it this week because a some of the FUKers said they really liked it.
It seems to suffer the usual 'next' generation MMOG vices - little depth and VERY slow. I'll force my self to level 15, but if i don't see an increase in content or pull I can't see myself lasting with this game.
The only thing it seems to draw from the rest of the series is the music (mostly ripped from FF7 and FF9) and the compulsory characters (Moogles, Cid, Chocobos etc). Admitedly I wasn't expecting it to 'feel' like a FF, but an attempt at the least would have been appreciated.

In related news, it turns out that both my AC accounts probably haven't been deleted through inactivity, methinks a nostalgic return may be in order. From what I've heard, even after 8 years it's still going fairly strong so it's not like i'd be logging into a baron town. There's even a new expansion in development, hopefully people will see past it's olde graphics and give it a shot. It's the best MMORPG i've ever played, the 4 years of my life it swallowed whole are a testiment to that ^^.

If FFXI and AC fail, I'll probably hop over to Everquest II or Lineage 2 (Margate \o/).

Non-MMORPG
Colds arent fun! I felt pretty rough Thursday night, by Friday night i was in shivers and sneezes, and now i'm pretty much over it. Best bug ever :D.

Not-so-generic:
Birmingham was a lot of fun! I was half expecting it to wind up the way the June nationals did, but thankfully everything went relatively smoothly.
I did manage to be the only judge to have to give out a disqualification of the day (quite an achievement), the recipient of said DQ was basically a complete prick. I found the guy shouting at his opponent (now in tears) over a very minor miss-calculation of lifepoints which we easily rectified. In the end he lost, and subsequently threw his deck down and began cursing at his opponent and the judge. Needless to say, he's getting a nice big penalty on his UDE record.

I met fuse for the first time, he seemed tired (probably because he ended helping out for 35 minutes, despite having no intrest in YuGiOh or the fine art of goodie-bag packing) but was nethertheless as friendly in real-life as he is on the internetwebz0rz (<3).

Kat introduced me to the delight that is doubles mode. I've been avoiding doubles for a while because of the added cost, but Birmingham had Joint-Premium and i got completely hooked. Now i need some kind of doubles key board :{.

This was posted before I went on the most life-draining ordeal of my existance (AKA The YuGiOh

I'm still not sure what to do here to be honest, LJs main uses seem to
be:
Angst
Quizes
What-I-ate-today-and-stuff
Angst

I'll give it a go, though i'll try and avoid repeated quizzes.

Short-term LJ goals:
Make a theme that isnt shit.
Find other LJ internetweb friend people.
Actually update.
Make LJ icon.
